Pump It Up Exceed is a dance simulation game with 3D animation, and the first one from the series ported to PS2™. The game allows players to select a song, choose a category such as Banya Category, POP Category and Korea Song Category and select their chosen level of difficulty. Players then step on the dancing pad, playing similar to Konami's DDR/Dancing Stage series, and are given a score based on their performance. If a player can complete three songs in A grade, they have the option to play the bonus stage. On completion of the bonus stage, the player is given a four digit code ranking, which they can then use to register an international ranking.
