Cords, Cables, & Chargers - What a Mess!

10.04.08

Every week or so, GameWatch posts about video game accessories.  Although I rarely buy accessories for my consoles and handhelds, I really enjoy looking at the kinds of things that third party companies come up with to supposedly enhance or simplify our gaming experiences.  Last week’s post focused on cords, cables, and chargers.  Typically, I just gloss over stuff that isn’t wacky, cute, or really innovative, but these caught my attention.  Maybe it’s because in my family, we have 4 iPods, 2 PSP Slims, 1 PSP, 3 DS Lites, 3 cell phones, and a digital camera.  My bedroom alone has cords and cables all over the place and I’m CONSTANTLY trying to figure out where my PSP charger is or I’m searching for an outlet to plug yet ANOTHER handheld device into.  Can you say fire hazard? Gundam PSP-3000

09.18.08

Namco Bandai announced that they will be releasing a PSP premium pack for Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs. Gundam.  So shiny.  We need more stuff like this here.  And, no, the Madden one doesn’t count.  There’s no nifty design etched on that one.  (Admittedly, it’s a beautiful blue color, though.)  Anyway, the game is releasing in Japan on November 20th.

PSP Analog Stick Grips

09.03.08

Because of Phantasy Star Portable, in the last month, I have played with my PSP more than I have in the entire time I’ve owned it.  (I bought my PSP Slim in September 2007.)  One of the things I’ve noticed is that my thumb slips on the left analog stick a lot.  For example, I’ll suddenly start walking instead of running.  Or I’ll just stop altogether.  Then I realize that my thumb has slipped off.  Very irritating.  Apparently, I’m not the only one with this problem because Japan Trust Technology has created the Analogue Stick Silicon Pad.  For only 680 yen (~$6.30), you can buy a set of these grips.  I’m definitely picking these up.
