Cords, Cables, & Chargers - What a Mess!

10.04.08

Every week or so, GameWatch posts about video game accessories.  Although I rarely buy accessories for my consoles and handhelds, I really enjoy looking at the kinds of things that third party companies come up with to supposedly enhance or simplify our gaming experiences.  Last week’s post focused on cords, cables, and chargers.  Typically, I just gloss over stuff that isn’t wacky, cute, or really innovative, but these caught my attention.  Maybe it’s because in my family, we have 4 iPods, 2 PSP Slims, 1 PSP, 3 DS Lites, 3 cell phones, and a digital camera.  My bedroom alone has cords and cables all over the place and I’m CONSTANTLY trying to figure out where my PSP charger is or I’m searching for an outlet to plug yet ANOTHER handheld device into.  Can you say fire hazard?

From Abel, we have two versions of a multi-purpose charger.  The Central Game version (1280 yen) can charge a PSP, Nintendo DS, or Willcom phone:

And then the Choice S version (1980 yen) can charge a DS Lite, PSP-1000 or 2000, AU, DOCOMO, SoftBank, or Willcom phone, and an iPod or iPod Shuffle:

Next up from Linkage is a Lithium AC charger (1980 yen).  The connectors for your DS Lite, PSP, AU, DOCOMO, Softbank, or Willcom cellphones are sold separately (980 yen).  So now you can charge the battery and recharge your handheld wherever you’re at:

Admittedly, you can still only charge one thing at a time, but at least these devices would alleviate some of the extra cords lying around, leaving you just a little likely to burn down your house.  ;)
