Cute Ocha-ken Nintendo DS Accessories

07.10.08

Ocha-ken or Tea Dogs/Puppies were originally a series of toys released by Sega Toys.  Their popularity grew such that an anime was made, along with five handheld games: Ocha-ken Kururin: Honwaka Puzzle de Hottosho for the GBA, Ocha-ken no Yumebouken for the GBA, and Ocha-ken no Heya 1, 2, and 3 for the DS.  They’re incredibly cute and represent a very basic and important facet of Japanese life: the consumption of tea.  At one time, a brand of bottled iced tea came with an Ocha-ken cell phone strap attached.  I went to the Japanese grocery stores and bought as many as I could find.  I think I’ve got about 40 little straps in a drawer somewhere in my house.  I’m a sucker for cute.  So when I saw all these accessories, I just turned into mush.

The touch pens (650 yen each), wall charger (2310 yen), and seals (630 yen) are releasing on July 25th in Japan.  I’m hoping the import store near my house carries them.  I want!

The cases (2079 yen each) are releasing in August.
