So I start Monday working as an SDET (Software Design Engineer In Test) at Microsoft in Redmond, WA working on 360 projects but I got a glimpse of the whole MS XBOX 360 world a bit earlier this last week, so I thought I’d share a bit. Oh and I plan on writing a column here weekly or several times a week about my life inside the big M$ but who knows what I’ll be able to spill as I’m sure I’ll have to sign a big NDA come Monday. Anyways, I got to observe a few people earlier in the week and I was told a great nerd story I felt I had to share.
So there’s this guy, lets call him Tim. Tim, got one of those watches for Christmas that charges itself from movement. So for the first week the watch worked fine and Tim was happy with his present. Come week 2, the watch starts failing several times a day. It turns out the watch survived the first week on its initial charge but couldn’t continue running since Tim was so sedentary at work. He never moves from his desk and his watch arm only moves slightly all day as he moves his mouse around. Isn’t that insane? I mean I bet a coma patient with a twitch could keep one of those watches going.
How much do you want to bet Microsoft accounts for a large percentage of all muscle atrophy cases in the US that aren’t from being bed ridden.
