Legend of Kage 2 Review Full Of Dissapointment

03.19.08

Don’t be fooled… sp0rsk must be high from the pretty graphics and easy fodder kills. The damn game is repetitive, not-exciting, and full of craptacular boss battles.

The only thing that’s really cool is the special system, where you mix and match orbs to equip ninja magic…

Yeah, maybe it would’ve passed for a mildly-tolerable SNES game back in the day, but that’s giving it tons of credit. As it is, I’d call Legend of Kage 2 a poor man’s Shinobi.

Tried the game over the weekend, it sucks. Frankly, the original is much better.

What bugs me the most is music/atmosphere. The original music had this traditional, dark mood, reinforced by the stage settings.

DS version music is BAD–sounds like it belongs in Tokimeki Memorial. Cheap, almost midi-like, has none of the original flavor or mood. Action/control just feels… cheap. Characters are lame (every male char must be a metrosexual ninja).

Plus, the original changed the pace every stage. This one just feels REPETITIVE. Stage after stage being stuck in the forest. Giant caves and different height levels makes some stages feel reminiscent of Sonic.

I loved the original (killed Yukigusa over and over and over), but this one fails. It’s just not fun.
