Dragon Quest IV DS In English Via Action Replay

Yes that’s right you can now play the English version of Dragon Quest IV using a Japanese cartridge and an Action Replay! Well apparently it can as it’s only been tested with the pirate hardware known as R4. While we don’t condone piracy in any shape or form this is a pretty neat find.

It’s an actual script, just not fully implemented. If you were to just READ the text, it’s perfect. But to LOOK at the text, you have words continuing over to the next line half way, menus have text going off the windows, some bits of text are missing altogether.

Basically SE have gone and translated each word, but they haven’t yet (as of the JP release) reprogrammed it to fit fully with the English system yet (E.G. Japanese words naturally can carry over to the next line unexpectedly, and it naturally takes less space to write a whole word, so there’s no issue with text running off windows, etc).
